This page explains how CampusBuzz handles user information, the rules for using the platform, and the standards that apply to Campus Chat, Bar Chat, crowd updates, partner content, rewards, and other CampusBuzz features.
Privacy Policy
How CampusBuzz collects, uses, and protects information
1. Information CampusBuzz may collect
CampusBuzz may collect information needed to operate accounts, provide campus-specific features, maintain platform safety, improve performance, deliver notifications, and understand how the service is used.
This information may include:
- Name or profile display information.
- Email address and verified college email domain.
- Selected college or campus.
- Firebase account identification number.
- Account role, such as student, partner, or administrator.
- Account status, including active, pending, or suspended.
- Saved bars and app preferences.
- Notification preferences and device push tokens.
- Chat messages, replies, reactions, reports, and moderation records.
- Crowd updates and bar-edit suggestions.
- Rewards activity and raffle entries.
- General app activity and analytics events.
- Device platform and basic technical information.
2. Student verification
CampusBuzz may require a supported college email address to access student-only features. Verification is used to help protect campus communities and limit interactive student features to eligible users.
Users who browse another college may be placed in Explore Mode, where some interactive features are restricted.
3. Anonymous chat and private moderation records
Campus Chat and Bar Chat may show an anonymous display identity to other students.
CampusBuzz may privately retain information associated with a message, including the account identifier, email address, selected college, anonymous identifier, message history, report history, and moderation actions.
This private information may be reviewed when CampusBuzz investigates harassment, threats, spam, impersonation, dangerous behavior, illegal activity, fraud, reward abuse, or other violations.
4. How information is used
CampusBuzz may use information to:
- Create, verify, and maintain accounts.
- Provide campus-specific content and access controls.
- Operate Campus Chat and Bar Chat.
- Process message reports and moderation actions.
- Provide bar information, events, deals, and crowd updates.
- Operate rewards, entries, and promotions.
- Send requested notifications and Buzz Alerts.
- Detect abuse, fraud, security risks, and policy violations.
- Improve app performance, reliability, and design.
- Provide general engagement insights.
- Comply with legal obligations and valid legal requests.
5. Location and map features
CampusBuzz may use map information and bar locations to display nearby bars, directions, and transportation options.
CampusBuzz does not intentionally display a student’s precise private location to other users through chat.
6. Analytics
CampusBuzz may record app activity such as screen opens, bar views, saved bars, deal views, chat activity, map interactions, reward activity, and other feature usage.
Analytics may be used to understand platform performance, improve CampusBuzz, evaluate feature engagement, and provide general aggregated insights.
7. Third-party services
CampusBuzz may use third-party providers to operate the service, including services related to:
- Authentication.
- Cloud database storage.
- File and image storage.
- Push notifications.
- Application hosting.
- Analytics and performance monitoring.
- Apple App Store distribution.
These providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices.
8. Information sharing
CampusBuzz does not sell student email addresses or private chat identity records.
CampusBuzz may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- Investigate safety concerns or abuse.
- Enforce CampusBuzz rules.
- Protect users, partners, CampusBuzz, or the public.
- Respond to valid legal process.
- Prevent fraud or unauthorized access.
- Work with service providers operating CampusBuzz.
9. Data retention
CampusBuzz may retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain safety records, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
Some chat content may expire from student-facing views while moderation records remain available to authorized administrators.
10. Account deletion
Eligible users may initiate account deletion from inside the CampusBuzz app through:
Account deletion may remove the user’s Firebase Authentication account, Firestore user profile, notification profile, partner application when applicable, and locally stored account information.
CampusBuzz may retain limited records where reasonably necessary for security, moderation, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or enforcement.
11. Security
CampusBuzz uses reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. No digital service can guarantee complete security.
12. Children and age restrictions
CampusBuzz is not intended for children. Users are responsible for complying with applicable age restrictions, alcohol laws, bar policies, and university policies.
13. Changes to this policy
CampusBuzz may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. The updated date at the top of this page will be revised when material changes are made.
Terms of Service
Conditions for accessing and using CampusBuzz
1. Acceptance of the terms
By accessing or using CampusBuzz, you agree to these Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Guidelines.
Do not use CampusBuzz if you do not agree to these terms.
2. Eligibility and accounts
Users must provide accurate information and must not impersonate another person, student, school, business, bar, or organization.
Student-only features may require a verified email address from a supported college.
Users may not share accounts, attempt to access another user’s account, bypass access restrictions, or misuse administrator or partner features.
3. Independent platform
4. Bar information, offers, and events
CampusBuzz may display bar details, hours, crowd information, prices, specials, offers, events, and partner updates.
This information may change without notice. CampusBuzz does not guarantee that every listing, price, crowd report, event, deal, or operating hour will always be accurate or available.
Bars may require identification, proof of eligibility, a redemption screen, or compliance with additional conditions.
5. Alcohol and responsible use
Users are responsible for complying with legal drinking-age requirements, bar rules, university policies, and all applicable laws.
Use transportation options responsibly. Never drive while impaired.
6. User-generated content
Users may submit messages, replies, reactions, crowd updates, reports, suggestions, poll responses, and other content.
Users are responsible for what they submit and must follow the Community Guidelines.
Users may not submit content involving:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or hate speech.
- Illegal activity or instructions facilitating illegal conduct.
- Private personal information belonging to another person.
- False crowd reports, fake offers, or intentional misinformation.
- Spam, scams, impersonation, or reward manipulation.
- Sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content.
- Underage drinking promotion or dangerous alcohol behavior.
7. Moderation
CampusBuzz may review reports, hide content, restrict features, suspend accounts, preserve moderation records, and take other reasonable action to protect the platform.
CampusBuzz is not required to publish, retain, or restore any user-submitted content.
8. Reporting content
Users may report Campus Chat or Bar Chat messages through the in-app reporting system.
Reports may be reviewed by authorized CampusBuzz administrators. Submitting a false or abusive report may itself violate these terms.
9. Partner and administrator access
Partner and administrator tools may be restricted to approved accounts. Partners may only use features for their assigned bar unless CampusBuzz provides broader authorization.
CampusBuzz may review, approve, reject, edit, pause, or remove partner-submitted information and alerts.
10. Rewards and promotions
Rewards, raffles, entries, offers, and promotions may be subject to additional eligibility rules, limits, expiration dates, and availability.
CampusBuzz may cancel entries or restrict accounts where fraud, manipulation, duplicate activity, or abuse is suspected.
11. Service availability
CampusBuzz may change, suspend, discontinue, or restrict any feature at any time.
CampusBuzz does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free performance, or permanent availability of any content or feature.
12. Disclaimer
CampusBuzz is provided on an “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CampusBuzz disclaims warranties not expressly stated in these terms.
CampusBuzz is not an emergency service, transportation provider, university authority, bar operator, law-enforcement agency, or medical service.
13. Limitation of responsibility
Users are responsible for their own decisions, transportation, purchases, communications, conduct, alcohol consumption, and compliance with applicable laws.
14. Termination
CampusBuzz may suspend or terminate access where a user violates these terms, threatens safety, commits fraud, abuses rewards, or creates risk for the platform or community.
15. Changes to the terms
CampusBuzz may revise these terms as the platform develops. Continued use after updated terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Community Guidelines
Standards for a safe and useful CampusBuzz community
1. Respect other people
Treat students, bar employees, partners, administrators, and other community members with respect.
Harassment, bullying, hate speech, discriminatory language, threats, intimidation, and encouragement of violence are not allowed.
2. Protect privacy
Do not post another person’s:
- Private email address.
- Phone number.
- Home address.
- Financial information.
- Private images.
- Real-time private location.
- Other sensitive identifying information.
3. Be accurate
Do not intentionally submit false crowd reports, fake deals, misleading bar information, fabricated safety claims, or impersonations.
4. No dangerous or illegal activity
Do not promote illegal drug sales, violence, underage drinking, drinking challenges, impaired driving, or conduct that creates a serious risk of harm.
5. No spam or scams
Do not repeatedly post unrelated advertisements, deceptive links, fraudulent offers, impersonations, or reward-manipulation schemes.

7. Reporting
Use the in-app Report Message feature when content violates these guidelines.
Reports should be honest and based on genuine concerns. Abusive or knowingly false reports are not permitted.
8. Enforcement
CampusBuzz may:
- Hide reported messages.
- Dismiss unsupported reports.
- Restrict posting or chat access.
- Suspend or remove accounts.
- Preserve moderation records.
- Contact appropriate authorities when legally required or necessary for safety.
Safety Information
Important limitations and responsible-use reminders
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Do not rely exclusively on CampusBuzz crowd information, chat messages, or user reports when making a safety decision.
Bar conditions, lines, events, transportation pricing, hours, offers, and crowds may change quickly.
Always follow applicable laws, use responsible transportation, protect your personal information, and avoid sharing sensitive details in public or anonymous chats.
